Creating Opportunities for Success

Rowan College at Gloucester County offers adult basic education programs designed to prepare you to earn your high school equivalency diploma, improve your English literacy Skills, get you into college and put you on the career path. Whether you need to improve your basic skills or want support as you transition into college or employment, our programs will meet you at the level you are at and help you reach your educational and career goals.

Prior to starting classes, each student will be required to take a basic skills assessment to identify your academic skills and content knowledge, meet with the program counselor, and attend a mandatory program orientation. High School E​q​uivalency 
The High School Equivalency (HSE) program provides adults who did not complete a formal high-school program the opportunity to obtain a High School Diploma issued by the State of New Jersey Department of Education. Students will participate in reading, writing, math, social studies, science, work readiness and basic computer literacy classes. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to take the HiSET or TASC assessment to earn a diploma.


English as a ​Second Language (ESL)​ 

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps adults whose first language is not English to improve their English speaking, reading, and writing skills.  Students will have opportunities to gain computer skills, work readiness skills, enroll in college, and prepare for career training or employment opportunities. Students may also choose to prepare for the US citizenship test.


College Success

The College Success program is designed to help individuals prepare for entrance into college. Students are provided with the essential educational proficiencies needed in math and reading to transition into college. Students will also gain the skills needed to be successful on the college placement exam. 


These courses are funded by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.​
