Rowan College at Gloucester County

High School Equivalency Testing

In place of the GED exam, TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) is the exam given by Rowan College at Gloucester County for achieving a high school diploma from the State of New Jersey Department of Education.

TESTING INFORMATION

TASC consists of five subject areas with the following testing time allotment:
Mathematics (1 hour 45 minutes), Writing (1 hour 45 minutes), Reading (1 hour 15 minutes), Science (1 hour 25 minutes), and Social Studies (1 hour 15 minutes).

A passing score of 500 points is required for each subject area.  Writing also requires an essay score of 2 or higher.  There is no longer a required total point score for passing the exam.

Testing requires 2 days of approximately 4 hours each day.  We currently give the paper/pencil format of testing and computer based testing as well.  It takes about two weeks to get the results when testing in the paper/pencil format.

Electronic devices of any kind are forbidden in the exam room.  Examinee will not be permitted to continue testing if his/her cell phone or any electronic device is seen in the exam room.
