The Health, Physical Education & Recreation program provides students with a solid foundation of learning experiences, enabling them to transfer to four-year universities to pursue careers as health and physical education teachers, as well as other recreation employment options.
Program graduates will demonstrate the ability and skill to:
Apply their knowledge and demonstrate basic instructional strategies for teaching and lesson planning in health and physical education
Demonstrate a proficiency in history, skills and knowledge of team and individual sports
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to promote recreational activities to sustain healthy living and lifelong fitness
Analyze, evaluate and provide basic care in emergency situations
Rowan College welcomes students seeking a post-secondary education. Admission to this program is open to high school graduates, High School Equivalency (HSE) recipients and others who can benefit from the instruction offered. High school students may be considered for early admission or the High School Option program. Applications are accepted from residents of other New Jersey counties and other states and countries.
