Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, legal and financial workshops during the month of June. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. You must be at least 18 years or older to register. "Basic Computers – Mini-Series" --- This 20-hour, basic computer class mini-series covers Microsoft Word 2013 and, if time permits, Excel 2013. The cost of the workshop is $20 for displaced homemakers and $50 for non-displaced homemakers. Please note, this class fills up quickly, so call to enroll now. Payment is due one week prior to the first day of class and is not refundable. The four-part mini-series will be held on Thursdays, June 2, 9, 16 AND 23 from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
"Financial Aspects of Divorce" ---Joseph Johnson, Owner of Main Street Financial, designed this class to help you navigate the complicated process and stressful ordeal of divorce. It covers the broad range of financial issues faced when going through a divorce and is designed to help you avoid costly mistakes, clarify your expectations and begin planning for a "successful" divorce. The workshop meets Tuesday, June 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
"Making Miracles Out of Mud" --- Join Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, certified professional Life Coach, to learn how people create miracles even when faced with seemingly impossible situations such as cancer, disease, divorce, trauma, etc. All that is needed is the miracle mindset to make it happen. In this compassionate and transformative workshop you will learn how to clean up the mud in your mindset so you can begin to see the miracle of what is possible. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 8 from 7-9 p.m.
"Rising Healthcare Costs: How Do I Financially Plan for Them?" --- Financial Advisor Monique Castillo understands that healthcare is something that impacts us throughout our lifetimes. A change in job or marital status can dramatically alter what options are available to you. This workshop will cover how to be better prepared for future healthcare costs. We will also discuss what new tools are available, including Health Savings Accounts, to help financially plan for health expenses both before and after retirement. This workshop will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
"Caring for the Caregiver" --- Jeannie McQuaide, Ph.D., a licensed professional counselor, will lead this workshop to examine issues which caregivers face daily and suggest resources to avoid caregiver burnout. This two-part workshop will be held on Tuesdays, June 14 AND 21 from 7-8:30 p.m.
"Life in the Blended Family" --- Join Jeannie McQuaide, Ph.D., a licensed professional counselor, for a workshop focused on identifying the unique challenges faced by blended families and implementing creative solutions. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 15 from 7-8:30 p.m.
"How to Sell or Buy a House During a Divorce" --- Join Brian Ziegenfuss of RE/MAX Connection to learn how to avoid nine critical mistakes while selling or buying a house during a divorce. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 22, from 7-9 p.m.
Rowan College at Gloucester County's 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 off of Route 55.
