Deptford Twp. — Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) Executive Director of Diversity and Equity Almarie Jones was one of three recipients selected to receive the 2015 Patricia C. Donohue Leadership Award at the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) "Passing of the Torch Award Breakfast" on June 5 at Mercer County Community College.
Dr. Donohue, president of Mercer County Community College, is president emerita of the national AAWCC. The Donohue Award is presented to a woman from a community college who exemplifies the following criteria:
- Provides service to women in the community
- Mentors other women
- Inspires others through her leadership
- Successfully plans/implements initiatives for women
An active member of the College's AAWCC, Jones sits on the Activities Committee where she helps to plan and coordinate mentor and training opportunities. She serves as RCGC's Title IX Office, a position which requires strong ethical principles, in addition to demonstrating respect and compassion to all individuals. A valuable resource and trusted colleague, Jones has acted as a mentor to many employees and has donated countless volunteer hours to various causes and associations.
