Deptford Twp. – Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) sophomore nursing student Julia Viola received a “surprise” award valued at $200 from the Woman’s Club of Pitman on Friday, Nov. 20.
Viola, of Pitman, was selected by the College’s Nursing and Allied Health faculty for her hard work and compassion as an RCGC nursing student. The NJ STAR student is looking forward to graduating as a registered nurse in May with plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in the fall. Viola, who is doing her clinical training at Cooper University Hospital on the medical surgery floor, also works part-time as a patient safety assistant at Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township and Stratford.
“I am very surprised and grateful for this award opportunity that will help me to pursue and further my education,” said Viola.
“The Woman's Club of Pitman has supported nursing students for many years. We are grateful for their continuation of the award to a deserving student,” stated Dr. Susan Hall, dean of Nursing and Allied Health. “Miss Julia Viola has demonstrated the attributes of a professional nurse since the beginning of the program. In addition to her academic success, she has been a leader in the Student Nursing Organization (SNO), participated in community service projects such as Mothers Matter and recently addressed the RCGC Board of Trustees outlining the mission and vision of the SNO Club. The faculty and staff wish to thank the Woman's Club of Pitman and also wish continued success to Julia.”
