Deptford Twp. – Rowan College at Gloucester County sophomore Janelle Redmond received a surprise scholarship valued at $200 from the Pitman Women’s Club on Friday, Nov. 18.
Redmond, of Pitman, was selected for her academic performance and professionalism. She worked as a patient care technician at Virtua Health Systems for years before deciding to pursue her BSN. Redmond decided to take advantage of the savings available through RCGC’s 3+1 Program, enrolling at Rowan University while taking the first three years of classes at RCGC at a significant discount.
Redmond was nominated for the scholarship because of her compassion, diligence and dedication to the profession. The College’s Nursing and Allied Health faculty then took a vote on the nominee most deserving of the scholarship.
“Janelle was chosen by the nursing faculty because she works hard,” remarked RCGC Instructor Genevieve Turner on the College’s selection process.” She is an active learner, provides compassionate care and has never given up on her dream of becoming a nurse.”
“I would like to thank the Pitman Women’s Club for such a generous award and the nursing faculty for choosing me to be the recipient,” said Redmond. “I was so shocked! I love helping people and nursing has always been my passion.”
