Student Orientation event welcoming new and returning students with important information, tours, food and fun. Following a welcoming event with RCGC’s President Frederick Keating, along with a number of former students, academic division breakout sessions were held with RCGC deans, professors, faculty and advisors providing information to help promote student success.
In the Fine Arts Center, an auditorium packed with incoming Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students were treated to a glimpse of the possibilities before them. Along with the standard faculty and staff introductions and overview of STEM programs and career opportunities, RCGC held a panel discussion. The panel was led by Dr. Robert Rossi and featured RCGC STEM graduates Lauren Anderson, Ashley Barb, Adriana Campo, Dr. John Covotta, Gabrielle DiIenno, Oliva Pagan and Alycia Robertson.
The panel provided a unique opportunity for incoming students to hear from those who were in their shoes not so long ago. Panelists spoke freely about their decision to choose RCGC, what steps they took to ensure a smooth transfer of credits, how prepared they felt upon transfer and what advice they had for the auditorium of freshmen. An opportunity for students to ask questions was provided before the close of the event.
