Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) first-year nursing student Ginger Quinn received an early holiday gift on Monday, Dec. 4, when the Pitman Women's Club surprised her with a $200 scholarship.
Quinn, of Pitman, was selected by the College's Nursing and Allied Health faculty for her hard work and empathy as an RCGC nursing student. The married mother of three has worked as a dialysis technician for 20 years, but in September her yearning to become a registered nurse came one step closer when she started RCGC's nursing program.
"I have always wanted to go to nursing school. It was something that I wanted to do but raising a family, paying bills and other life experiences got in the way," said Quinn, who finishes up her first semester in mid-December. "I am honored and appreciative of this very thoughtful award. It will be put to good use."
"We are so grateful to the Pitman Women's Club for continuing the tradition of honoring one of our nursing students. The scholarship represents the mission of the College and Nursing program to provide students from the community access to pursue their professional goals," stated Dr. Susan Hall, dean of Nursing and Allied Health. "Ms. Quinn is a deserving, competent student who demonstrates compassion and dedication. She will be an asset to the nursing profession. On behalf of the administration, faculty and staff, we wish Ms. Quinn best wishes for continued success."
