Rowan College at Gloucester County's (RCGC) Student Veterans Organization (SVO) will host their annual Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will take place in the College Center mezzanine, opening with the Camden County Emerald Society Pipes & Drums and an invocation by RCGC student David Dudinski, Specialist N.J. Army National Guard. Board of Trustee Cody Miller will sing the national anthem and lead the Pledge of Allegiance before turning the ceremony over to Freeholder Director Robert Damminger to serve as the master of ceremonies. RCGC advisor and Vietnam veteran Dr. Walter Gholson will provide opening remarks.
Donna Iannelli, Gold Star mother of Capt. Ryan Iannelli, U.S. Marine Corps Super Cobra Pilot who died in Afghanistan on Sept. 28, 2011, will be the guest speaker. Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney and Deputy Director/Liaison Giuseppe "Joe" Chila will also address the audience.
President Frederick Keating will accept the "Military Friendly School" Award on behalf of the College from SVO Advisor Kathleen Leader. This is the sixth consecutive year that Rowan College has been named a military-friendly school by G.I. Jobs magazine. In addition, 16 RCGC faculty and staff members who have served in the military will be recognized.
Rowan College at Gloucester County is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
