The Community Chorus of Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) will spread peace, love and holiday cheer to area residents during its annual holiday concert tour with two performances — one on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodbury Heights and the second on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Glassboro.
Conductor Lawrence De Pasquale and accompanist David Anderson return for their 18th season to lead an array of yuletide carols showcasing the 60-voice choir's repertoire of "Carol of the Bells," "Deck the Hall," and "Silver Bells" along with traditional Hanukkah music. The choir's Holiday Cheer Concert also treats audiences to Franz Schubert's "Mass in G Major" (soloists Erica Smith, Ken Floyd, Patricia Januszewski, James Davis and Jonathan Stark) and Darby Simeone's "Twas the Night Before Christmas" (soloist David Eastman).
Both performances are open to the public and are not ticketed. There is a suggested goodwill offering of $7 per person to support the John V. Chard Memorial Scholarship Fund. The choral scholarship is awarded annually to selected applicants who are pursuing studies in higher education either at RCGC or other local schools. The Dec. 2 concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 335 Elm Ave. in Woodbury Heights, and the Dec. 5 performance at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 University Blvd. in Glassboro.
