​Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County hosts a number of empowerment, legal and financial workshops during the month of July.  Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public.  Must be at least 18 years or older to register.  Call 856-415-2222 or email to register.


Effective Parenting and Positive Discipline: Moving from Chaos to Connection —Shift from chaos to connection in your family as you enhance your knowledge of effective parenting strategies that eliminate power struggles and exhaustive battles. This two-part workshop

series will provide information about positive discipline strategies, which parents can use to help  children improve their behavior at all stages of development. The goal of this series is to offer parents the skills and support needed to create harmony at home and to help children build confidence through example-led guidance. The workshop meets Tuesday, July 14 and July 28 from 6:30 – 9 p.m.

 "Navigating Child Support" — Gloucester County Social Services Child Support Specialist Gina Foster describes the processes to establishing paternity, filing for support services and enforcing existing court orders. A review of the family court, probation and social services are discussed as well as individual rights. It meets Thursday, July 16 from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Understanding Your Investments —This one-night class provides the information needed to help plan for financial security. The class is designed to help better understand your investments and learn how to make your money work for you. Topics covered include stocks vs. bonds, mutual funds, investing, tax-deferred investing, risk management and estate-planning techniques. The class meets on Tuesday, July 21 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Get the Job and Keep the Job Workshop Series — This series of workshops is most beneficial when all five sessions are attended.

The workshop meets on Wednesdays, July 29 and August 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 6 – 8 p.m.
