Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of this Con?
KotoriCon was designed for the education and enjoyment of Japanese anime fans ages 13 and up in Rowan College at Gloucester County (formerly named Gloucester County College) and the surrounding community. Learn more about the History of KotoriCon.
What does the name mean?
Kotori is Japanese for little bird. The college that hosts KotoriCon has a mascot that is a blue Roadrunner, and Kotori is a baby roadrunner. Kotori changes shape each year with our theme. Con just refers to "convention", as in "anime convention". Kotori is designed by illustrator Alexandra Glenn-Collins, who has been the KotoriCon staff artist since we started.
Is this Con suitable for children and what is the cost for children?
All anime fans are welcome; however, the event has been organized to ages 13 and up. Some of the videos been screened may not be appropriate for young children. We ask parents to carefully read our video descriptions and make that decision. There are no events especially for younger children, but they still may enjoy some of the videos and demonstrations. Children 8 and under are free with an accompanying paying adult. Please make sure you read our guidelines regarding children in our Policies.
Will there be a dealer’s room or artist’s alley?
We have dealers and several artists selling anime related merchandise this year. They are selected from a competitive process that starts in August.
Can my group perform at the Con?
We are working on our schedule now. If you have suggestions or would like to perform, give panel, or a workshop please contact us.

We are under 18. Do we really need an adult with us?
Yes. Anyone under 18 is required to have an adult on campus. It is for their safety. There is great programming for all ages if a parent wants to come. If the adult with the group is not your parent or guardian you will need to bring a permission slip signed by your parent.
