Women's Tennis at NJCAA National Championships: Roadrunners Finish as National Runnerup, Kelly Hernandez is National Coach of Year!

​​The Roadrunners' Women's Tennis Team earned a second place finish in the NJCAA Division III National Championships with Coach Kelly Hernandez receiving National Coach of the Year Honors!!

Roadrunner Women's Tennis is competing in the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Peachtree City, GA. The team will open play on Thursday and hopes to continue into the championship round matches on Saturday. The Roadrunners have won three NJCAA National Championships in Women's Tennis.

The Roadrunners are led by #1 singles player Tori Nugent. Nugent is coming off of an undefeated regular season and Region 19 Championship. She will likely be among the top seeds in singles play and also in doubles with partner Lexi Pierce.

First-Round Action (Day 1)
Date: October 19, 2017 

In opening round action, First Singles Tori Nugent (Pennsville) advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph while Second Singles Lexi Pierce (Woodstown) also advanced with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. The Second Doubles team of Haley Kircher and Nicole Andreacchio won their opening match with a 6-4, 6-4 win.

The Third Doubles team of Madison Cresci and Maeve McFadden dropped their first-round match as did Haley Kircher at Third Singles. 

In action on Friday, RCGC's Nugent (First Singles) will compete as will two Doubles' teams. 

Second-Round Action (Day 2)
Date: October 20, 2017 

Following Day 2 of competition at the NJCAA D III National Championships in PeachTree City, GA, the Roadrunner Women's Tennis Team is in second place, just two points behind team leader Oxford Community College.

Three singles players have advanced to the finals in their respective competition.
Sophomore Tori Nugent won here semifinal match on Friday with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph. She is the third overall seed. 

Rachel Kircher advanced to the Third Singles finals on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Also advancing to the championship final is Nicole Andreacchio, who prevailed in her Fifth Singles semifinal match by a 6-2, 6-4 score.

Lexi Pierce (Second Singles) and Madison Cresci (Fourth Singles) lost semifinal matches in singles competition. 

The Third Doubles team of Cresci and Maeve McFadden won a back draw match by an 8-6 score.

Third-Round Action (Day 3) -- Championship Finals!

First Singles Tori Nugent, Fourth Singles Nicole Andreacchio and Fifth Singles Rachel ​Ondriceck each finshed as National Runnersup to earn All-American Honors. The First Doubles combo of Nugent and Lexi Pierce also finished as natiional runnerup to earn All-American status. 

The Roadrunners' team placed as national runnerup behind Oxford-Emory ​College.
