Sophomore center Rasheen Merlin (Washington Township) completed a three-point play with 8 seconds remaining to lift the RCGC men's basketball team to a dramatic 95-93 victory over host Cumberland County College in Garden State Athletic Conference action Tuesday night.
The win improved Coach Chris Martin's team to 3-0 on the young season.
Freshman Chris Lyons (Pennsauken) led the offensive assault against the Dukes with 19 points and 9 rebounds, including a key second-half spurt where he knocked down eight straight points. Freshmen Na'Quan McPherson (Washington Township) and Bryant Geddis (Lindenwold) also had 13 points apiece while freshman Kamel Morton (Delsea) added 12 and sophomore Tashawn Tokely (Woodrow Wilson) contributed 11 for the winners.
The Roadrunners will travel to Passaic County College for a league game Thursday night, ahead of Saturday's home opener against Bergen CC.
