To say the least, it was a see-saw affair, but RCGC men's basketball coach Chris Martin didn't mind the outcome.
The Roadrunners, trailing host Union County College by four points at halftime, used a solid second half-run by several players to escape with a 98-94 victory and run their winning streak to five games. Freshman guard Na'Quan McPherson (Washington Township) led the Roadrunners with 28 points, including 16 in the second half, while sophomore guard Tashawn Tokely (Woodrow Wilson) scored 16 of his 20 in the second half to lift the Runners.
"It was a wild, crazy, back and forth game, but we survived," said Martin. "We hit our shots when we needed to and came out with the win."
Freshman forward Chris Lyons (Pennsauken) also deposited 16 points while freshman guards Bryant Geddes (Lindenwold) and Kamal Morton (Delsea) added 10 timely points apiece. McPherson nailed three key 3-point baskets to spark the second-half comeback.
The Roadrunners improved to 12-2 overall with the triumph and 6-1 in the conference.
