The Roadrunners took a long road trip this weekend to see some new competition prior to starting their championship season next weekend.  The teams competed in the JUCO Northeast Invitational in Lincoln, RI hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island.  After they shook out their legs from the long van ride, the teams shook up the competition, and were able to return home with plenty of hardware.

On the women's side, the team was led by returning All-American Jordan Austin who placed 6th to earn a medal.  Following close on her heels was Abigayle Warren with her 9th place finish to also earn a medal.  Rounding out the ladies team this week was Ally Bone with her 22nd place finish.

On the men's side, the team ran a tactical race and continually moved up throughout showing their dominance on the hills of the course.  In the final mile of the 5 mile race, the duo of Mike Dowd and Jake Caruso took control of the race and cruised to a 1st and 2nd place finish.  Next up for the Roadrunner flock was Jacob Smeltzer with his medal winning 14th place finish.  Packed in right behind him, and just missing a medal, was Tyler Ellis in 16th.  Rounding out the scoring were Sam Carter in 25th and Anthony DiMarco in 29th with is fastest time of the season.  The team was able to finish 2nd, only falling to NJCAA D1 power Monroe.

For the second time this season, freshman Mike Dowd was the top runner for the Roadrunners. He took home the race championship this week and was recognized for his efforts by the USTFCCCA as the Male Athlete of the Week.

Next up for the RCGC XC teams are the Region 19 Championships.
