Welcome to Assessment at RCGC
The purpose of assessment at Rowan College at
Gloucester County is to assist administration, faculty, and staff in the
creation, establishment, and evaluation of program goals, institutional goals,
and student learning outcomes to improve the quality of education.
RCGC Course Assessment
Course based assessment refers to the various methods of evaluating student learning outcomes, objectives, and content, within the classroom learning environment. Rowan College at Gloucester County assesses every course on a two year cycle, providing data that clearly illustrates student understanding and drives instruction.
Online, Hybrid, Web Enhanced
Instructors that use Blackboard for fully immersed online courses, hybrid courses, or web enhanced courses, can now align the student learning outcomes, the program learning outcomes, and the core competencies directly to assignments.
General Education consists of a collection of courses that all undergraduate students are required to take – in addition to coursework in their major. These requirements can be filled with a variety of courses.
Rowan College at Gloucester County’s Curriculum Committee, a committee of the Faculty Senate, serves as a review, advisory, and recommending body in matters dealing with additions, modifications, or deletions of credit courses and programs of study.
RCGC Dual Credit
Dual Credit at Rowan College at Gloucester County is designed to provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit for coursework completed while in high school.
Rowan College at Gloucester County engages in program review for the purpose of continuous improvement of existing non-academic, academic, degree, and career certificate programs.
The Mid-Atlantic Region Commission on Higher Education is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation activities for institutions of higher education, including distance education and correspondence education programs.
Institutional effectiveness is designed to create a practice of collaboration between faculty, staff, and administration to create a system of evaluation that assesses college policies, procedures, and objectives.
