Probation/Academic Leave

Students placed on academic probation/leave will be notified via their RCGC email the week of June 3, 2019.  Please check your RCGC email for important information regarding the status of your academic standing.


12 credit probation

Students who are placed on 12 credit probation, will be restricted to enroll in no more than 12 credits for the fall semester.  Students placed on 12 credit probation must make an appointment with either Ms. Cheryl McBride (if your last name is between A-J) or Ms. Audreen Pittman (if your last name is between K-Z).  During your appointment, you will discuss your current course load and troubleshoot any problems that may be avoidable for the upcoming semester.  Participation in RCGC’s Academic Recovery Program, along with other campus resources, will also be discussed as part of your plan to get you back on track for the next semester.  If you are scheduled for more than the allowed number of credits, you may be removed from a course(s) so that you are in compliance with the probation policy.

14 credit probation

Students who are placed on 14 credit probation, will be restricted to enroll in no more than 14 credits for the fall semester.  Students are encouraged to adjust their schedules accordingly and meet with their assigned academic advisor to address any concens they may have regarding fall enrollment.  If you are scheduled for more than the allowed number of credits, you may be removed from a course(s) so that you are in compliance with the probation policy.

Academic Leave

Students placed on academic leave will be prohibited from registering for any courses during the fall 2019 semester.  This means any courses you may be currently registered for will be dropped from your schedule.  As part of your recently updated probation status and the process for reinstatement for the next semester, you are required to make an appointment with Ms. Audreen Pittman, the Academic Probation/Leave Advisor.  This appointment can be scheduled during the month of October, 2019.
