KotoriCon Workshop or Panel Application

Please Read Before Applying

Thank-you for your interest in running a panel or workshop at KotoriCon. Performers, panelists and workshop leaders are central to the convention. A variety of panels and workshops run at KotoriCon, conducted by special guests and contributed to by fans. These can include informative talks, games, hands-on activities, comedy and more.  All interested performers, panelists and workshop leaders must complete an application.

Applying

  • Panels and workshops must relate to Japanese culture, including anime, music and manga, or to KotoriCon's 2015 theme
    of "Space."

  • Panelists must at least 18 years of age or older to participate. Panels and workshops are limited to a MAXIMUM of five
presenters. Unfortunately, this means an entire cast of characters from an anime or comic cannot present.

  • Interested individuals may apply to run one or two panels, although the KotoriCon organization usually accepts one because
    it is a one-day event.

  • In general, KotoriCon does not accept Q&A panels. No more than 15 minutes of a panel can be used for questions and answers.
    All panels require prepared content.

  • Please remember that KotoriCon is a family-friendly event and no 18+ material is tolerated. Panels displaying or discussing
    inappropriate material will be stopped.

Registering

  • After applications have been reviewed, panelists will be notified by KotoriCon staff via an admissions or rejection letter.

  • All accepted panelists will be notified on how to register and pick up their special Panelist/Workshop Leader Badge.

    • Panelists receive two complementary passes to attend KotoriCon.

    • Although some panels have five leaders, the additional three members will need to purchase their passes.

    • If an approved panelist already purchased a ticket, he or she may request a refund from Eventbrite after he or she receives
      their panelist ticket.

  • No more than five people can run a panel because of limitations in room sizes. All registered panelists must be active in presenting
    the discussion or activity.

  • Accepted panelists must register for their tickets by Dec. 1. No tickets will be issued for panel or workshop leaders after this date.
Panelists who fail to register by Dec. 15 will be removed from the schedule and program.

Presenting

  • Panels run throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 depending on room availability. The KotoriCon organization cannot schedule panels dependent on other activities.

  • Some people would like to stream their panels/events at KotoriCon, but this is not possible. Streaming may interfere with other panels
and video screenings. The organization needs to make sure these panels and anime go smoothly!

  • All rooms are classrooms and include a PC, internet connection, DVD player and projector. No microphones are needed.

  • Please refer friends to the http://KotoriCon.org  website for the link to registration.

The Rules

By accepting an offer from KotoriCon, panelists and workshop leaders agree to:

  • Abide by the convention's rules and regulations.

  • Allow their picture to be taken by both attendees and KotoriCon staff for future promotions.
