Loans provide financing and enable students to spread the cost of their education over time. They are serious legal obligations and must be repaid. Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) urges all students to learn about the loan process and various borrowing options so they can make informed choices when financing their education.
Once students are no longer enrolled for at least six credits in an eligible degree program, they receive a six-month grace period before loan repayments are required. Students must begin repayment at the end of this six-month duration. To prepare for this process, students are required to complete Exit Counseling when leaving Rowan College.

Federal Direct Education Loans are established and supported by the government, in which the U.S. Department of Education serves as the lender. Rowan College students are eligible to participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program.
There are three options:
Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan
Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan
Parent Plus Loan for Undergraduate Dependent Students
Required Steps for First-Time Borrowers
Students who are first-time Direct Stafford Loan borrowers at Rowan College must:
Complete an online Loan Entrance Counseling session
Sign an Electronic Master Promissory Note

Required Steps for Continuing Borrowers
Students who are subsequent borrowers must:
1. Complete their Rowan College Direct Loans Request
2. Log on to their student account at StudentLoans.gov
3. Complete their Direct Loan Entrance Counseling on StudentLoans.gov
After logging onto the site, click on "Complete Entrance Counseling." Students must correctly identify themselves as Undergraduate Students.
Students who require assistance when completing their Entrance Counseling session should call the Direct Student Loan Support Center at 1-800-557-7394.
4. Sign their Master Promissory Note (MPN) on StudentLoans.gov
Click on the link "Complete Master Promissory Note." The link "View What You Need" lists the information needed to complete the MPN. Students must select the correct loan type for which they need to complete the MPN.

Students' funds cannot be credited to their accounts until they have completed the RCRC Loan Request, Entrance Counseling, Master Promissory Note requirements and have accepted their loans.
